SUMMARY

Coordinates the delivery of SMARTstart programs and related activities relating to small business/entrepreneur programs at the SMARTstart facility co-located within the AMSkills training center in Holiday, FL.

Identify, market to, and recruit new and expanding businesses through various methods of marketing and community outreach.

Support these founders with prototyping, coordinate use of makerspace, and collaboration with technology and manufacturing training partners.

Responsibilities also include researching and coordinating strategies to support entrepreneurship efforts in targeted areas, including compiling and analyzing data and recruitment of mentors, guest speakers and local experts, coordination of monthly activities and presentations to help cultivate new and expanding businesses.

Works closely with HQ staff and SMARTstart Program Director to assist with administration and client communication for the SMARTstart Microloan Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates day-to-day facility operations related to the Company’s entrepreneurial and business incubation efforts; manages documentation efforts through client-tracking databases, as appropriate.
  • Administers business incubation program, monitors individual action plans, and provides technical assistance relating to specific business tactics, including; business canvas, business plans, customer segments, etc.
  • Plans, coordinates, organizes, and spearheads efforts to identify and develop office, technology, and industrial entrepreneurs; ensures appropriate equipment, consumables, and other resources are available for the successful operations related to these efforts
  • Reach out to new and prospective business owners to increase participation the full suite of SMARTstart programs
  • Represents the Pasco EDC to the local community and business groups, organizations, and agencies; responds to a wide variety of questions, comments, and/or concerns; resolves related complaints
  • Communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, take orders, and address complaints
  • Coordinates/administers the delivery of programs and activities related to entrepreneurial business growth, including; classes and workshops and other entrepreneur education and networking opportunities.
  • Works closely with HQ staff and SMARTstart Program Director to assist with administration and client communication for the SMARTstart Microloan Program. This may include activities such as: coordinating/administering the delivery and aspects of the Microloan Program including working with the applicants, the Microloan Committee, processing monthly draws, monthly record keeping, invoicing, etc. and managing the microloan software.
  • Meets regularly with appropriate third-party strategic partners for the coordinated delivery of services.
  • Works within the boundaries and provides insight to management regarding program budgets.
  • Participates in regional events promoting Pasco EDC SMARTstart Programs
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to assigned programs, including financial reports, invoicing, account receivables, and tracking of clients.
  • Manages the needs of the facility ensuring smooth operation and appropriate functioning of equipment.
  • Understands emerging needs, trends, and services related to recruitment and location of incubator clients and affiliate members or other assigned areas of responsibility
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Coordinator Implements marketing programs and collateral to ensure public exposure to program offerings
  • Assists in fundraising activities including private and public sources.
  • Operates office machines, answers telephone, takes messages, maintains filing, updates client-tracking, routes member mail, maintains recordkeeping, manages calendar, etc.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with 3-D Printing, machining, manufacturing, electronics, and robotics

  • Recruit office, technology and industrial entrepreneurs
  • Help small businesses solve growth impeding problems by providing advice, consultation, and facilitation of services and expertise from other providers

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 3-years related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Experience starting, owning, operating and/or managing a small business highly desirable.

CERTIFICATION
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Florida driver license.  Must have reliable transportation.
