Basements in Florida are seldom found, but a Pasco-based company called BAUER Foundation Corp. is changing that. This week BAUER Foundation Corp. held a grand opening and ribbon cutting for its newly constructed 3,000 sf building at its US headquarters in Odessa, Florida. BAUER's innovative new building includes a geothermal basement designed to reduce air conditioning and other energy costs, and it was cool, literally! [gallery link="file"] What is even cooler is this facility is also home of three new business ventures including:- Executive Offices for the German American Chamber of Commerce South, Florida Chapter
- The Florida Solar Energy Center Geothermal Research Project (FSEC)
- The Sustainable Energy & Manufacturing Innovation Training Center (SEM-ITC)
“Christina’s award signifies that we are on the right track to improving the skills of our technical workforce and this research and innovation training center will help us collaborate more with the local companies, high schools and colleges to initiate the development of a more highly trained local workforce for our industries,” said Charles Puccini, President/CEO of BAUER Foundation Corp.
The BAUER trainee program is modeled after the successful German Dual System of Education used by its parent company BAUER AG in Schrobenhausen, Germany, where nearly 250 apprentices are employed. This training has set Germany apart from the world in engineering and technical advancements in manufacturing and other technical industries. Pasco County is hoping to learn from the dual system of education and apply certain aspects to its career academy program.
