Zephyrhills is a finalist for 2013 Sustainable Florida Best Practice Awards
October 2, 2013
City officials in Zephyrhills decided to amp up efforts to go green, and with the assistance of Vrana Consulting, they created a community action plan called Sustainable Zephyrhills. Now, Sustainable Zephyrhills is a finalist in the 2013 Sustainable Florida Best Practice Awards. This is not the first time that Sustainable Zephyrhills has been honored for its green initiatives. In September 2012, the Sustainable Zephyrhills plan received a Best Practices Award of Merit from the Florida American Planning Association.
Then, on March 13 of this year, the Florida Section of the West Coast Branch of the American Public Works Association selected the action plan for its Environmental Project of the Year award. The same month, the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council announced that Sustainable Zephyrhills received a merit award of honorable mention in the Going Green award category at its Future of the Region Awards. Winners of the 2013 Sustainable Florida Best Practice Awards will be announced at lunch on Wednesday, October 30, at the Working on the Green Sustainability Summit. Congratulations to the City of Zephyrhills on creating an award winning plan to promote sustainable efforts in Pasco County! Source: TampaBay.com and Sustainable Florida
