METTLER TOLEDO Breaks Ground on New Pasco County Facility

Over 300 people come out to join the celebration
Lutz, Fla. (January 23, 2017)—Just four months after announcing they would establish a presence in Pasco County, dirt is already moving on at the future site of METTLER TOLEDO Product Inspection's new 250,000-square-foot facility. Equipment has been on-site since December 2016 and the foundation’s footprint has already taken shape on the parcel located just off the Suncoast Parkway.
“We cannot be any more excited that construction is underway for our new state-of-the art facility located in Pasco County,” said Viggo Nielsen, General Manager of METTLER TOLEDO Safeline. “Our business has outgrown our existing locations in the Tampa Bay area and New York, so the new location cannot come soon enough.”
Over the last two weeks, New York-based employees of METTLER TOLEDO Hi-Speed relocating to the area have taken part in location familiarization tours facilitated by the Pasco Economic Development Council, during which they were given the opportunity to meet with representatives from local education providers, chambers of commerce, and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
“We are thrilled METTLER TOLEDO chose to build their new facility in Pasco County,” said Bill Cronin, President/CEO of Pasco EDC. “It’s our privilege to give the incoming residents from New York a warm welcome and to do what we can to make their transition as seamless as possible.”
On Saturday, January 14, over 300 METTLER TOLEDO employees from the Tampa Bay area as well as those visiting from New York gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new facility. In addition to remarks from Nielsen and Cronin, Commissioner Kathryn Starkey welcomed the crowd to the area. “I can’t tell you how excited we are to have so many of you join us for this groundbreaking today. We are all looking forward to working together and forging a long, prosperous relationship in Pasco County,” she said.
In addition to METTLER TOLEDO executives and local dignitaries, three METTLER TOLEDO employees were chosen from a random drawing to participate in the ceremonial turning of the dirt.
“Of course our business would not be where it is today without the contributions from our valued employees and their families,” Nielsen remarked. “This groundbreaking ceremony is to celebrate the future our employees have taken part in shaping.”
