Incubator Member Tracy Ingram successfully participated in Hacking the Human Element December 1-3, 2017

PASCO COUNTY, FLORIDA (December 13, 2017) — The Pasco EDC is proud to announce SMARTstart Business Incubator member and entrepreneur, Tracy Ingram, has successfully participated in the Hacking the Human Element event held December 1-3, 2017. Ingram’s team was awarded $15,000 for an early stage prototype for a wearable technology that monitors and analyzes the wearers vital signs. It displays a corresponding color code to alert first responders of the urgency of the wearers need for medical treatment.  The event was hosted by SOFWERX and MD5. SOFWERX is an Ybor City-based organization that develops technology to fit the needs of the US Armed Forces. MD5 is a Department of Defense entity under Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy, and a network of national research universities that seeks to reinvigorate civil-military technology collaboration and value creation through the development of a National Security Innovation Corps – entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs solving high tech problems in the interest of national security.

Reflecting on the victory Ingram said, “We were lucky to have this perfect storm of technology including advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and wearable hardware, as well as professors who specialized in biological applications for these tools. Creating a solution with off-the-shelf technology allows us to quickly integrate it into equipment already being utilized in the combat zone, saving lives. The whole team is excited; they put in a strong show against very stiff competition.”

The full roster for the team included David Hirschberg, Natalie Concors, Asia Hall, Alec Thurman, Brian Meredith, Steve McCalmont, Yves St Laurent and Terry Shaw.  The awarded funds will be used to further develop the technology in 2018.

“Success stories like this are why we offer the programs we do,” shared Bill Cronin, President/CEO, Pasco EDC. “We want to help provide a space for entrepreneurs to create ideas and grow, just like Tracy and his team.”
